Index or Actively Managed Funds
Although a lot of investors seem to be Thinking of Index Funds as an alternative to actively managed mutual funds, there seems to be some confusion about the fact that they are not a simple, one-stop solution. In fact, there is a tremendous amount of index funds available to investors out there, often making the decision to swing that way a little less simple. And the reason is simple: index funds own every darn security in the specific index, or group of indices, that the fund follows and tries to mirror. Anything outside of owning all assets of the index would be an actively managed fund.
